I remember it so clearly. I was in my teal 1969 Chrysler sitting at a red light with the 383 burbling away while the single speaker radio played Fred Astaire off of some forgotten AM channel. As I gazed listlessly into the distance a flash of red caught my eye.
It was a bright red Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona on wire wheels approaching from my left side across the intersection. Concours condition. It was so much cleaner than the gritty road and surrounding bland cars. How could such a beautiful thing be real?
And then it was gone.
No echoing V12 roar, no lingering smell of oil or tire smoke, just gone. The light turned green. I idled stationary, flabbergasted, for a few seconds and continued my journey. I never expected to see that. A Ferrari Daytona used like a car? On the roads? The same roads that I drive on. I half expected these to nly drive on red carpet lanes laid out precisely for the rich and prestigous.
It was like seeing Emma Stone, just being a regular person, waiting in line for McDonalds. I’ll never forget that fleeting glimpse of grandeur that day on Yonge St at 8:30 AM.

Mmmmm, nice!
My best happened in Germany. I was in a bus on the Autobahn, leaning my forehead against the window and watching the cars go by. Occasionally a Ferrari, several R8s, some other things, but nothing too special. Then, suddenly, an EB110 in the fast lane. As soon as I saw it, it was gone. But it was so beautiful.

While it’s not overly exotic, my best spot imo was a completely stock Mk.IV Supra Turbo on Sunday. It was very well used, but unmodified. It made me look quicker than any Italian I’ve seen.

That’s so cool! Stock wheels too? Sadly, most of the stock turbo Supras I see are either automatics or freshly imported from Japan and awaiting modification.

Stock wheels even. It was a sight. This is only the second one I’ve seen, and the first one was F&F on a budget style.

I remember walking down to town one day and I suddenly hear the sudden carbureted V12 burble of a downshift. A blue Daytona Spider rolls past me. I stood there for about 5 seconds completely motionless because I just saw a freaking Daytona Spider. And I’m used to seeing supercars on a regular basis.
Then there was the time I saw an Escort Cossie. Something vaguely resembling an epileptic squeal erupted from my body then.

I saw a Vehicross once. Yeah. Yours was better.

A rare feeling, that is. I don’t remember the last time I saw a car on the road that struck me like that.
